POSITION TITLE: >>>>>Research Intern

POSITION DESCRIPTION

CDN is seeking research interns to assist with conducting project development and implementation activities for its NIH-funded Research Projects.

The ideal candidate will work with participating community/migrant health centers to assist with patient recruitment and intervention activities, including conducting record reviews and structured interviews as well as data entry and analysis.

Three facets of internship should be pointed out:

1) CDN is a public health agency, not a health care agency. We do clinical, epidemiological, and operations research, not laboratory research; if you are interested in a more clinical experience, you might be able to help one of our collaborating community health centers with organizational (paperwork, not patient management) tasks;

2) Although we have applied for funding for some intern projects, you should assume that you will not be paid. We are unable to assist with summer living arrangements in New York;

3) All of us who work at CDN spend a chunk of our time writing, faxing, photocopying, mailing, and attending meetings, so expect to do "office work" as well.

CDN is a small agency, but expects to host a crowd of college-age and masters-level summer interns. We encourage all interns to participate in talks and educational forums at CDN and other health care agencies, as well as seminars held by the NYC Department of Health for their summer interns, to gain exposure to a broad range of public health issues.

QUALIFICATIONS

Undergraduate and Graduate Students are encouraged to apply. Strong organizational, communication, PC and writing skills. Experience working with ethnic and racial/minority communities. Bilingual in Spanish a plus.
