POSITION DESCRIPTION

CDN is seeking a Nutritionist/Health Educator/Project Coordinator for a new NYS-Attorney General-funded multi-site education project to: increase knowledge about nutrition and the proper use of vitamin supplements, and improve access to low-cost multivitamin supplements to NY State Community/Migrant Health Centers.

The candidate will be responsible for developing and managing a state-wide initiative, including: site recruitment, providing Continuing Medical Education (CME) and Continuing Dental Education (CDE) accredited workshops for physicians, dentists, nurses and other primary care clinicians, both onsite at Community Health Centers in New York State and elsewhere, and on online via webcasts.

The candidate will manage the day-to-day activities, including site recruitment, curriculum and protocol development and implementation, supervising project staff and serving as liaison with the project partners, including the Faculty/External Clinical and Scientific Advisory Committee, and facilitating enrollment of sites in the Federal Drug Pricing Program (340b) and group purchasing contract negotiations.

The candidate will also research and identify printed and web-based health education materials and will develop new materials, and work with translators to translate low-literacy patient education materials into Spanish, Creole, Chinese and Russian. The candidate will investigate additional funding sources, prepare and submit grant proposals, and assist in developing and managing new projects.

QUALIFICATIONS

Masters Degree (Human Nutrition, Public Health, Health Education) with a minimum of 3 years health care or public health experience, including developing training for professionals and consumers, grant writing, and project management. Supervisory experience a must. Strong organizational, communication, research and writing skills, PC-proficient including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet. Experience working with ethnic and racial/minority communities. RD/CDN, bilingual in Spanish or Creole a plus.
