Daren Wu, MD,

Chief Medical Officer Open Door Family Medical Centers Summary of Session Goals:

Understand that the healthcare industry’s drive towards Value Based Reimbursement, with simultaneous emphases on quality improvement, better access to care, and cost control, can be in sync with most clinicians’ aspirations. Successful alignment of organizational objectives with clinician incentive programs is achievable and ever more important in an increasingly accountable practice environment.

Learning Objectives:

1. Explore Value Based Reimbursement, why it is long overdue and necessary, and why it is here to stay. 2. Review the basic design principles behind creating a pay-for-performance program, using Open Door as an example. 3. Understand the shortcomings and potential unintended consequences that may come out of a pay-for-performance system.
