To introduce the audience to the AHRQ Guide to Improving Patient Safety in Primary Care Settings by Engaging Patients and Families. We will describe the goals of the Guide and the first intervention, Teach-Back, and walk through the materials developed to support adoption of Teach-Back in practice.

Learning Objectives:

1. Review the key threats to patient safety in primary care settings and interventions to engage patients and families to improve safety
2. Describe the role and value of teach-back in improving patient safety
3. Identify strategies for implementing the teach-back process in primary care settings
